Each of these is in the App today, and most of them are where a general billing package leaves a shop to keep a second notebook.
01
The GST rate follows the HSN code
An item with an HSN code takes that code’s rate on the date of the bill, from a rate table that cites the notification, schedule and serial number for each heading of general goods. Where a heading carries two rates, as footwear does above and below Rs 2,500 a pair, the item form asks which applies.
- 19% cannot be entered. 12% and 28% cannot be given to an item after 22 September 2025.
- Items still at a rate that ended are listed, and moved to their HSN’s rate together.
02
The counter
Scan a barcode or a weighing scale’s label, or type a name. The bill is a tax invoice, or a bill of supply for a composition dealer, with walk-in customers needing no party. Payment splits across cash, UPI, card and credit, and the UPI QR on the screen carries the bill’s amount. Print to thermal, A4 or dot matrix from the same bill, share it as a PDF, or send a link.
- A GSTIN in another state makes the bill inter-state without anybody choosing IGST.
- An estimate is chosen per bill. It prints NOT A TAX INVOICE, moves no stock and becomes a sale only by conversion.
- A business not registered under GST bills on a cash memo, untaxed and in its own series.
03
Units the return already uses
An item is sold in a GST quantity code such as LTR, KGS, PCS or BOX, so the HSN summary needs no mapping at filing time. Loose items take 2.5 LTR or 0.250 KGS, and a second unit is shown in words at its own price: 1 CTN = 12 LTR.
- No selling price above the MRP printed on the item.
- A label-printing scale’s barcode is read at the counter, and its PLU list is exported for the scale.
04
Stock as a ledger of movements
Every receipt, sale, return, transfer and adjustment is a row that is never edited. A sale that takes stock below zero is recorded as a deficit to be counted, never hidden, and the next delivery settles it first. Stock counts run by shop, category or shelf while the shop keeps selling.
- Opening stock is entered once per item and lot, on the day it was counted.
- Stock moves between shops with its cost, MRP and serial, and is counted in at the other end.
05
Purchases and the supplier’s invoice
A purchase bill, or a quick stock-in when the bill comes later. Upload the supplier’s invoice as a PDF or a photograph and its lines come off the page as a draft you correct. A purchase return issues a debit note to the supplier.
- Paying a supplier posts to the same khata as a customer’s receipt, against the bills it settles.
06
Khata, money and the day close
A party ledger per customer and supplier, with a payment allocated across the bills it settles, oldest first unless the cashier picks, and ageing in 30-day buckets. Cash drawers, bank, UPI and card settlement are each a running book, expenses post to them, and the day closes with a counted drawer and a Z-report.
- A statement for any party and period, as a PDF.
07
Orders, challans, price lists and schemes
A sale order can take an advance against a receipt voucher. A delivery challan sends goods on approval or ahead of their invoice, and the invoice is raised from it. Wholesale and dealer price lists are assigned to a party, so the counter prices from them, and schemes take per cent off, an amount off, or buy N get M free.
- Schemes do not stack: the bill takes the one that applies.
08
Labels, serials and variants
Barcode labels print through the shop’s label printer or as an A4 sticker sheet, with an EAN-13 for an item that has no barcode. A serial-tracked item is sold by its serial, with a warranty end date on the bill, and a serial lookup answers who bought it and whether it is under warranty. Size and colour variants each carry their own barcode and stock.
09
GST returns, e-invoice, e-way bills and Tally
GSTR-1 per GSTIN with B2B, B2CL, B2CS, the HSN summary and Table 13, as JSON for the portal or CSV per table, and GSTR-3B. E-invoicing and e-way bills are switched on per GSTIN and raised in the background from the bill, the challan or the transfer. Ledgers and vouchers export to Tally for the CA.
- A bill in a GSTR-1 marked filed is not cancelled or corrected. A return against it issues a credit note.
10
The owner’s view
Takings, margin and what is owed for any period, a list of what needs attention today, eighteen reports, and an Export CSV on every list with the screen’s own filters. Loyalty points are there for a shop that wants them and stay off until it switches them on.
11
Moving in from your old software
Items, customers and suppliers with what each owes, and opening stock, upload as CSV files that are previewed row by row before anything is saved. A shop leaving VittSense uploads its export in one file, and its old bills are kept for reference beside the new ones.
